Robert C. Burney

Robert C. Burney, age 85 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 6:00 PM. He was born in Hamilton on May 4, 1924 the son of James and Pearl (West) Burney. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was the owner/operator of Burney’s Carpet for 44 years. He attended Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God, and Bob especially enjoyed creating hand carved wooden crosses with Roman’s Road Soul Saving and gave them away to family, friends and strangers to touch their heart for Jesus. Bob loved doing work for his Lord. He was married to Lorraine Isaacs, and she preceded him in death in 1997; on February 21, 2005 in Hamilton, he married Jean (Hundley) Nohrer.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Burney of Hamilton; a daughter, Carol L. Daugherty of Marion, Indiana; four stepchildren, Roberta (Mark) Baker of Hamilton, Phillip Nohrer of Cincinnati, Bobby (Susan) Nohrer of Fort Wright, Kentucky, and Dave Nohrer of Hamilton; a brother, Gerald Burney of Fairfield; a sister, Eudel Baker of Indiana; devoted nephews Wayne Baker of Sarasota, Florida and Greg Baker of Cincinnati; and a number of grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Larry; a sister, Ruth Burney; and a special friend, Donald Robertson husband of his beloved niece Lorretta Robertson.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Charles of Pater Avenue Free Pentecostal Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
