Robert Diefenbacher

Robert Diefenbacher, age 82 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 5:25 PM. He was born in Richmond, Kentucky on April 2, 1928 the son of Henry and May (Whited) Diefenbacher. Robert joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 16 and served in the Army, Marine Corps, and National Guard during World War II. While in the Marine Corps, he was in the Arlington National Cemetery honor guard. He was employed as a New Miami patrolman as well as Chief of Police, and served as a New Miami councilman and on the New Miami Fire Department. Robert was formerly a commander at VFW #7670, and was a guard for President Eisenhower. He was a member of New Miami Church of Christ. On March 11, 1948 in Hamilton he married Fannie Mae "Pat" Lenos, and she preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Tim (Janetta) Diefenbacher and Chuck (Mary Ann) Diefenbacher, both of Hamilton; a brother, Danny (Joanie) Diefenbacher of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; six grandchildren, Timothy (Mindy) Dieifenbacher, Michael Diefenbacher, Jodie (Johnna) Diefenbacher, Valerie Diefenbacher, Bradley (Jennifer) Diefenbacher, and Ty; 14 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Tessa, Taylor, Nyia, Mykal, Courteney, Emily, Karissa (Roo-Roo), Tiffany, Aiden, David, Michaela, Brandon, and Whitney; and one great-great-grandson, Colton. He was preceded in death by his mother, May Buchanan; his father, Henry Diefenbacher; and a son, Michael Diefenbacher.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Randy Dodd, Pastor of New Miami Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Hickory Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
