Robert Joseph Ellis

Robert Joseph Ellis, age 89 of Hamilton passed away at VA Hospital in Cincinnati on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 1:47 PM. He was born in Warren, Ohio on July 23, 1922 the son of Stephen B. and Margaret (McClure) Ellis. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945 where he was the recipient of three Purple Hearts. He was employed as the owner/operator of several car rental companies. Robert was a life member of BPOE and Hamilton Optimist Club. On August 21, 1948 he married Betty Jane Vedder, and she preceded him in death in 2006.

He is survived by a son, Robert (Gina) Ellis of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Sean (Krista) Ellis of Lexington, Kentucky and Shad (Nichole) Ellis of Cincinnati; and four great-grandchildren, Ashleigh, Kenny, Jayna, and Kalel. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 3:00 PM with Dave Berthold of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, Fairfield Congregation, officiating. A memorial gathering will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
