Robert L. Flannery

July 3, 1947 — March 23, 2012

Robert L. Flannery Sr., 64, of Middletown, passed from this life and sailed away on the ship of Zion to go home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 23, 2012. He was born July 3, 1947 to Lawrence Flannery, Jr. and Opal M. Flannery (Shepherd) in Appalachia, VA. Bob was Retired from The United States Navy which he tremendously enjoyed. In 1966, he married Charlotte (Neal) with whom he has shared 45 years of joy. Bob was a true family man with the biggest heart who loved teaching his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews about many wonderful things, including Bible teaching, morals, values, as well as taking them all hunting and fishing at every chance. He was preceded in death by his Father, Rev Lawrence Flannery, Mother-in-law, Gladys Neal, Father -in-law, Ossie Neal, and Sister-in-law Bonnie Lickliter. Bob is survived by his wife Charlotte, who he called his Angel, his Mother, Opal M. Flannery of Middletown, Daughter, Tamara Jamison of Middletown, Son, Robert L. Flannery, Jr (Sherry) of Middletown, Grandsons, Travis L. and Jacob M. Flannery of whom he was the most proud Grandfather, nephews Charles R. Barrett III and Matthew P. Barrett with whom he had a unique Fatherly relationship , Brothers William C. Flannery (Linda) of Hamilton and Richard P. Flannery (Donna) of Carlisle, Sisters, Brenda S. Thomas (Lester) of Middletown and Sheila G. Duncan (Arnold) of Middletown, two Sisters-in-law, Chris Ballew of TN, Maxine E. Creath of Hamilton, one Brother-in-law Jearl Lickliter of FL, and many nieces and nephews that he loved so very much. Special friends A.C. and Rosetta Combs, Robert Creath, Don Cheeks, Pam Schafer, and his dogs Abbey (his baby) and Nakita. He also leaves behind many other beloved friends. Loving thanks to Sherry Flannery, his Daughter-in-law, for her devotion to his care. She could calm him with just a smile. Special thanks to his doctor and friend, Dr. Michael Hoffman of Hamilton.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 12:30 PM with A.C. Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
