Robert W. "Bob" Hedgepeth

Robert W. "Bob" Hedgepeth, age 88 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. He was born in Canmer, Kentucky on November 25, 1920 the son of George W. and Fronia (Gumm) Hedgepeth. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and proudly participated in the D-Day invasion, later serving in France, Germany, and Normandy. Bob retired as an electrician for the City of Hamilton. He was a good neighbor who was always willing to lend a hand to others. Bob was a lifetime member of VFW Post #1069, as well as a member of IBEW Local #648 and West Side Church of Christ. On April 9, 1971 in Hamilton, he married Geneva Ballinger, who preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Mary Ann (Hedgepeth) Donnell, Teresa (Hedgepeth) Fleming, Edith May (Vance) Bryant, Nancy C. Vance, Carlon Brooks, Donald Brooks, Patrick Brooks, Helen (Brooks) Peace, Eula (Brooks) Hornback, and Delories (Brooks) Copelin; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, James Hedgepeth, Charles Edward Hedgepeth, and Harry Clifford Hedgepeth; three sisters, Evelyn Vance, Ella Mae Brooks, and Mildred Arnold; and two nephews, David Lee Hedgepeth and James Thomas Brooks.

Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, Kentucky on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dan Knisley of West Side Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Pearl Webb Cemetery in Canmer, Kentucky. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute.
