Robert L. Knapp

Robert L. Knapp, age 72 of Seven Mile passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 7:22 AM. He was born in Hamilton on March 2, 1937 the son of Earl and Lucille (Wallace) Knapp. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1962. He was a charter and life member of FOE #3680, life member of the Amvets #1983 and member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1. Robert retired from Champion Paper after 31 years of employment. On January 2, 1988 in Hamilton he married Bonnie Hibbard.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Bonnie Knapp; his loving children, Robert (Della) Knapp Jr., Judy (Stuart) Buchanan, Jennifer (Gary) Betz, Brian Knapp, Heather Price, Ronald (Lynne) Hibbard and Reggie (Jenny) Hibbard; a brother, Donald Knapp; five nieces; a nephew; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will miss their grandpa; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Ann; and sister, Janet Day.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dale French of Eaton Road Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Robert’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christopher Meier and all on Mercy’s 3 Tower and ICU Unit who had a part in taking such wonderful care of our beloved father during this difficult time. It will not be forgotten.
