Robert L. Parsons

Robert L. Parsons, age 71 of Fairfield passed away at Veteran’s Adminstration Hospital, Cincinnati, on Monday, July 25, 2011. He was born in Berea, Kentucky on September 2, 1939 the son of John A. and Mattie Genevia (Gentry) Parsons. Robert was a veteran of the U. S. Navy as a Navy Seal from 1957 to 1960 aboard the USS Washtenaw County. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Amvets Post #2 and IBEW Local #71. Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Yvonne (Helton) Parsons; a daughter, Leeann (Antonio) Rameriz; a son, Ken Parsons; two stepsons, John (Jessica) Gadd and Jeff (Rhonda) Gadd; a sister, Lena Allen; a sister-in-law, Linda Jackson; ten grandchildren, including Lauren Schulte, who he raised; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Katherine Richardson; and a brother, Earl James Parsons.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Aaron Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Dayton National Cemetery with a committal service at 3:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff of VA Hospital Cincinnati for their excellent care and concern.
