Robert A. Saurber

Robert Arnold Saurber, 80, of Hamilton, passed away on August 27, 2016. He was born in Hamilton on December 24, 1935 to Harvey and Margaret Kirsch Saurber. Robert graduated from Hamilton Catholic High School in 1954. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 - 1959. Robert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hamilton, and the Knights of Columbus. He was the owner of Robert A. Saurber General Contractor, Inc., working throughout the City of Hamilton, including the Carruthers Wing and Ball Room at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, and placing many of the City of Sculpture monuments around town. Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose kind and giving nature impacted everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Ann Craven Saurber; children, Robert Joseph and his wife Tina M. Saurber, and Teresa Ann and her husband Russell Dempsey; a sister, Mary Louise and her husband Ted Clear; two grandchildren, Joseph Michael Saurber and his partner Elizabeth "Libby" Lewis and her daughter Baileigh, and Kathryn Anne Saurber; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, Donald, and William Saurber; two sisters, Phyllis Ittel, and Margaret "Peg" Foley; and his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 171 Washington St. with Fr. Rob Muhlenkamp, celebrant. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, and also on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 9:00AM-10:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in his honor
