Robert Louis Schlenk, age 77 of Hamilton went home to be with the Lord after fighting a courageous 18-month battle against a lengthy illness on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 12:30 PM. He was born in Hamilton on November 14, 1933 the son of Anthony and Marguerite (Schneider) Schlenk. Robert grew up in Lindenwald, was educated in St. Ann’s and graduated from Hamilton Catholic in 1952. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who raised his children on a farm in Ross. Robert was an exemplary machinist at General Electric for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was an avid hunter, farmer, and a compassionate friend who touched many lives.
He is survived by four children, Bobby (Jeanne) Schlenk of LaPorte, Texas, Linda (Tom Kelley) Dinkel, Bill (Linda Martin) Schlenk, and Lori (Andrew) Wyatt, all of Hamilton; a brother, James Schlenk of Hamilton; a sister, Mary Ann Schlenk of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Coyle, Kevin (Gaylene) Dinkel, Dustin (Jennifer) Eastham, and Tiffany Schlenk; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Benjamin, and MacKenzie; many nieces and nephews; his devoted companion of many years, Gerea Blankenship; and her family, including Teresa Bailey, Kandie Crawford, and Rhonda Allen, who he loved as his own. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Schlenk.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Catholic Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown, on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The family extends a special thanks to the Compton Oncology Center Staff, the ED nurses and 4th floor staff at Atrium Medical Center, Dr. Malcolm and his staff, especially Jessie, Crystal, and Connie, Dr. Hurlbert, Hospice of Middletown, and Bill, Jeanette, Jennifer, Audrey, Janet and Kirsten, who gave loving care to Dad in his final days.
