Robert E. Shelley

Robert E. Shelley, age 67 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 8:23 AM. He was born in Hamilton on August 28, 1939 the son of Emmett and Elsie (Wright) Shelley. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963 and was a member of FOP Lodge #38, Benjamin Franklin F&AM #719, Washington Chapter, OES #195, and Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. He was employed as a police officer for the City of Hamilton for twenty-three years, retiring in 1988. On July 13, 1974 in Jellico, Tennessee he was married to Sandy Hibbard.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Shelley of Hamilton; a son, Deron Shelley of Marysville, Ohio; a daughter, Gina (Matthew) Strouble of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Megan, Blane, Madison, and Mason Shelley, and Paige Strouble; and three sisters, Phyllis Meyers, Linda Shelley, both of Hamilton, and Sonya (Norm) Graf of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Don Meyers.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Earl Harmon and Rev. Dale French officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Foundation.
