Robert W. Sparks, age 70 of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 3:18 PM. He was born in Corbin, Kentucky on November 24, 1941 the son of Charles Leslie and Verna (Benge) Sparks. He was the husband of Sue (Cole) Sparks, married on June 30, 1963 in Lily, Kentucky. They were blessed to share their lives together for 49 years.
He is survived by a beloved son, Marty (Rebecca) Sparks of Hamilton; a brother, Charles Ray (Peggy) Sparks of London, Kentucky; a sister, Norma Jean Turner of London, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Olivia and Braeden Robert Sparks, Tatum, Ashley and Brooke Hood; a special niece, Shawna (Robert) Sheehan of Bright, Indiana; and special great-nephews Jonathan Woods, Bryant, Garrett and Carson Sheehan; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was employed as a plant supervisor at Barrett Paving Materials for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. He also taught and coached at Butler County High School in Danville, Kentucky and at the Kentucky School for the Deaf. Bob was a Hamilton High Booster and active in coaching and mentoring youth in various sports in Butler County.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Wally Miller of Fairfield Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM.
