Robert Wolke, age 82 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital Fairfield on Sunday, February 12, 2012. He was born in Hamilton on May 21, 1929 the son of Harry and Elsie (Hake) Wolke. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1950 and was employed as a firefighter from 1954 to 1984. He coached the Fenwick girls softball team for ten years, coached Fairfield Redlegs baseball, and coached his kids and grandchildren in baseball. Robert was part owner, along with his brother, Hank, of Lake Brenda fishing lake.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma (Bach) Wolke; children, Rob (Joyce) Wolke, Fred (Kaye) Wolke, Debbie (Dave) Baumann, Ron (Dawna) Wolke, Saundra (Tom) Smith, Brenda (Bob) Woodward, and Mike (Michele) Wolke; siblings, Elaine Emenaker, Naomi (Jim) Ohara, and Claire Bauer; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; along with a large extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Hank Wolke, Dorothy Duggins, Laverne Wolpert, and Ron Wolke; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be 5-8pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Thursday, February 16, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Dan Meyer and Father Stephen Mondiek officiating.
