Roger Charles Alfers, age 51 of Oxford passed away at University of Cincinnati Hospital on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at 9:13 PM. He was born in Cincinnati on December 16, 1957 the son of Robert J. and Catherine "Kate" (Moriarity) Alfers. Roger was a 1976 graduate of Badin High School, was employed as a bricklayer and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his mother, Kate Alfers of Hamilton; five brothers, Steve (Wendy) Alfers of Hamilton, Mark (Nancy) Alfers of Avondale, Arizona, Thomas Alfers of Hamilton, Jerry Alfers of Panama City, Florida, and Bill (Sharyn) Alfers of Huntersville, North Carolina; three sisters, Ellen (Jeff) Pohlman of Hamilton, Nancy Schwegman of Fairfield, and Mary Lou Sauer of Hamilton; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Alfers, and a niece, Mary Ann Pohlman.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 2550 Millville Avenue, on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jeff Bacon, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Shandon. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
