Roger "Julio" Phelps

Roger "Julio" Phelps, age 63 of Naples, Florida, formerly of Hamilton, passed away at Avow Hospice Georgeson House, Naples, Florida on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 10:05 AM. He was born in Hamilton on April 18, 1945 the son of Beve and Ida (Walden) Phelps. Roger was employed as a forklift operator at Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and will be deeply missed at Bike Week functions at Daytona Beach. On April 29, 1999 in Naples, Florida he married Idajean Schreiber.

He is survived by his wife, Idajean Phelps of Naples, Florida; four children, Justin (Tina) Phelps, Roger Phelps Jr., Andrea Ostendorf, and Benjamin Schreiber; three sisters, Sue (Walter) Hubbard, Betty Jones, and Annetta (Don) DeMonge; one brother, Michael Phelps; four grandchildren, Elijah and Nathaniel Lowe, and Tyler and Felicity Phelps; and he will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Edwin Jones; and sister-in-law, Vickie Phelps.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 7:00 PM with Rev. Abe Bowling officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hank and Mary Hamilton and all the nurses at Avow Hospice for all their care and support. At the family’s request memorials can be directed to the donor’s nearest daycare center.
