Ronald L. (Moose) Garrod
Age 76, of Hamilton, Ohio died peacefully in his sleep, at his daughter’s home, with his family by his side on Friday, September 22, 2017. Ron was born September 5, 1941 to Charles (Red) Garrod and Myrtle Garrod Robinson. Ron was a devoted husband and father and is survived by his wife of fifty- two years, Mary Ann Harris Garrod. Daughter of Paul and Florence Harris. Ron and Mary Ann have three children together: Michele (Michael) Wolke, Angela (John) Paugh, and Mark (Rose Payne) Garrod. They have eight grand-children, Michael Jr., Mathew, and Olivia Wolke. Elizabeth Croucher, Brooke, and Blake Garrod, Thaddeus Ridder, and Page Paugh. Ron is blessed with four great grand-children; Aiden Herbers, Jaycob and Benjamin Croucher and Elloitt Garrod. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, step father Beverly Robinson, brothers Phillip Garrod and Billy Robinson. Ron is also survived by brother James (Patricia) Robinson and Sister Beverly (John) Clontz.
Ron was a lover of life and family. During his school years Ron was involved in many athletic activities as a player as well as a coach. He was a member of the Hamilton High Flip Twisters as well as a member of the original Coney Island Water Skiballers. He created a tumbling team, and coached football for St. Peters of Hamilton. He coached his nephew Rick Renners baseball team for Fairfield. Ron loved camping and the outdoors. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America as Assistant Scout Master for troop 906 and took his son Mark Garrod from Cub Scouts to an Eagle Scout. Ron worked for Goodyear Tire Company for many years as a Service Manager and was an extremely talented auto and small engine mechanic and all around handy man. Ron enjoyed wood working and made many treasured keepsakes for family members throughout the years. Later in life Ron found a love for making costume jewelry. He found great joy in making gifts for his family, friends and most of all the many caregivers who took such great care of him in his time of need. Ron was generous with his knowledge, experience and time. He was a dedicated family man and was loved by all who knew him. He had an enormous sense of humor and created laughter in any situation. Ron was loved deeply by his family and will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 10:30AM with Fr. Larry Tharp celebrant. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave. Hamilton, OH 45013. www.browndawsonflick.com
