Ronald Joseph Kirk

Ronald Joseph Kirk, age 84 of Fairfield passed away at his residence on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 8:30 AM. He was born in Hamilton on September 4, 1930 the son of Paul and Ethel (Fant) Kirk. Ronald was employed by Champion International Paper for 40 years, retiring in 1991. On September 20, 1952 in Hamilton he married Philiberta Schnapp and she preceded him in death in 2010. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and he attended Lindenwald Baptist Church.

Ronald was a coach of multiple athletic teams including; bowling, softball, basketball and little league teams. At age 12 he managed and played in the YMCA softball and won 1ST place. Ronald managed the Fairham Rockettes Softball from 1969-1984. He was inducted into the International Bowling Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri and coached youth leagues at Linden Lanes and Fairfield Lanes, and also coached Hamilton and Colerain High School. Ronald was an active member of the Eagles lodges #407 and #3986, VFW Post 1069; Odd Fellows Temple, and Knights of Columbus, where he was honored as citizen of the year in 1996. He was a lifetime member of the Central YMCA since 1941.

He is survived by three children, Catherine (Bruce) Bell of Fairfield, Ronald A. Kirk of Hamilton, and Roxanne (Vaughn) Loomis of Hamilton; three siblings, his twin Donald Kirk of Hamilton, Lois Kirk of California, and Paul Kirk of Fairfield; his grandchildren, James Bennett, Nicole Bennett, Cassondra (Michael) Koelblin, Clayton (Christina) Loomis, and Rachel Bell; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Trey, Rylee, Ella, and Kennedy; and his special niece, Julia Schnapp of Michigan; his best friend, Arnie Thompson; devoted neighbor Peggy Kayes; his beloved dog, Happy; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Funeral at St. Ann Catholic Church, 3028 Pleasant Avenue, on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Father Larry Tharp, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, today, Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Edward Crane, 5 Tower at Mercy Hospital, and Hospice of Southwest Ohio for all their care and support.
