Ronald Lee "Runt" Riley, age 74 of Hamilton passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 1:10 PM. He was born in Hamilton on March 15, 1936 the son of Dwight and Laura (Bell) Riley. Ron was a graduate of Big Blue High School, and served our country as a Corporal (E-4) in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1955 to 1959. He obtained a certificate for serving in the American Land Forces Middle East, Lebanon and a good conduct certificate. Ron retired from Champion International Paper where he was employed for many years as an unstacker for the Finishing Department. On May 28, 1988 in Hamilton he was married to Beverly Stigall. Ron had a big heart and was willing to help anyone in need, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved sports and especially loved the game of golf with his friends. Ron will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and those who knew him will always remember his big heart and smile.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Riley and their two daughters, Ashley and Emily Riley (the love’s of his life) all of Hamilton; two sons, Jeff Riley and Mark (Dina) Riley, both of Hamilton; a daughter, Donna (Daniel) Whitaker of Hamilton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pam (Jay) Sandlin of Hamilton, whom he knew and loved dearly until the very end. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dwight Jr. and Gene Riley; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Carberry, whom he loved dearly.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Charlie Clay of Full Gospel Mission officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Cincinnati, Inc., C/O Bethesda Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, Ohio 45263-3597. Ron’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of Hamilton for their loving care and support while he was making the transition to begin his new journey.
