Rosa Thompson

Rosa Thompson, age 83, of Hamilton, passed away October 28, 2007. Born October 19, 1924, in Clay County, KY, she was the youngest child of the late Samuel and Lula (Cope) Maupin.

On April 29, 1944, she married the love of her life, Jesse Thompson and together they celebrated 63 years of marriage. Over the years, she held several jobs and retired from Champion Paper but the job she truly loved the most was rocking babies in the nursery at Mercy Hospital of Hamilton.

Rosa is survived by her husband, Jesse; two sons, Thomas Thompson and his wife Kathy, and Gary Thomson and his wife Shavona, a daughter Tina Schanie and her husband Wayne: eight grandchildren, Trisha (David) Hisch, Andrew Thompson, Joseph (Erin) Thompson, Amy (Paul) Yeager, Maria Schanie, Amanda Schanie, Lance Brock and Bree Brock; eight great-grandchildren, Cory and Josie Hisch, Paula and Caitlyn Thompson, Benjamin and Alexandra Yeager and Jesse and Edward Thompson. Rosa was preceded in death by her parents and 13 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 2, 2007 at 11AM, at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, with the Rev. Grant Montgomery of Ross Community United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 1, 2007, from 5:00PM-8:00PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday November 2.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Vitas Hospice, 11500 N. Lake Dr., Suite 400, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. The family would also like to sincerely thank the Ft. Hamilton Hospice nursing staff for the comforting care provided as well as their compassion and emotional support.
