Rosalind Eileen Oakes

Rosalind Eileen Oakes, age 78 of Seven Mile, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at 11:29 AM. She was born in West Elkton, Ohio on June 23, 1931 the daughter of Calvin E. and Marian F. (Greenfield) Pyles. Eileen was a 1949 graduate of Seven Mile High School and served in the Women’s Army Corp during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1952. She was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Edgewood School District for 27 years. Eileen was a lifetime member of the Seven Mile United Methodist Church. She was a member of VFW #7670 since 1993, and was chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary since 2000. Eileen’s life was filled with joy through her family, co-workers, veterans and many friends. On January 19, 1957 in Liberty, Indiana she married Donald N. Oakes.

She is survived by her husband, Donald N. Oakes; four children, Carla (Bob) Ledford, Diana (Doug) Williams, Pam (Tim) Stroup, and Donnie (Cindy) Oakes; thirteen grandchildren, Josh Ledford, Melissa (Kevin) Canter, Allen Ledford, Matt Williams, Jeremy Williams (Elizabeth), Rachel (Jeffrey) Hogan, Jason (Misty) Brammer, Samuel Brammer, Tayler and Alex Stroup, Chris (Jamie) Oakes, Jacob Oakes, and Brandon Collins; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Bayleigh Canter, Mason Brammer, and Megan Ledford; a brother, Kay Pyles; brothers-in-law Wendell (Phyllis) Oakes, Charles (Ruth) Oakes, and Bradley Hacker; sisters-in-law Linda Pyles, Faye (Richard) Dunaway, and Judy (Chuck) Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ralph and Gerald Pyles; and sisters-in-law Jeanne, Betty, Jean, Ruth and Janet.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 10:00 AM with Pastors Chris and Maggie Trumbull of Seven Mile United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Seven Mile United Methodist Church, 311 Walnut Street, Seven Mile, OH 45062 or to Hospice of Hamilton, 1010 Eaton Avenue, Hamilton 45013.
