Roscoe Burns, age 93 of Hamilton passed away at Birchwood Care Center on Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on September 25, 1917 the son of George and Sarah (Bowling) Burns. Roscoe retired from Fisher Body and was a member of Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. On March 24, 1939 in Clay County, Kentucky he married Esther Cornett, and she preceded him in death in 1999; on April 8, 2000 in Hamilton he married Mary Alice Derossett.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Burns; a son, Gerald (Dana) Burns; three stepsons, Vernon (Rhonda) Hensley, Marvin (Pam) Hensley, and Wendel (Teresa) Hensley; three grandchildren, Pamela (James) Saylor, Rebecca Robinette, and Holly Burns; and five great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Saylor, Steven Saylor, Danny Burns, Delaney Robinette, and Chloe Robinette. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet; three brothers, Henry, Herbert, and Fred; and five sisters, Chloe, Rhodie , Maggie, Ofa, and Eller.
Funeral services will be held at the Victory Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7460 Morris Road, on Monday, June 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Brother Donald Pierce and Brother Oscar Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Sunday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Birchwood Care Center and to Hospice of Southwest Ohio for their care and concern.
