Rosetta “Rosie” Lee Chaney, age 80 of Fairfield, passed away at Mercy Hospital--Fairfield on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Rosie was born in Hamilton, Ohio on February 8, 1944, to Wilson Chaney and Ardenia (Reece) Chaney. Rosie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Post#1069. She enjoyed gardening, was an animal lover, and she competed in Senior Olympics in bowling and golf. Rosie had a contagious laugh, a great sense of humor, and loved telling everyone “she was meaner than a snake”, despite her sweet personality.
Rosie is survived by her niece, who she considered as a sister, Dana (Jerry) Burns; her great nieces, Becky (Steven) Chrisman and Holly Burns; her nephews, Mike McQuinley, Jeff (Linda) McQuinley, and David (Karen) Chaney; and numerous other family and friends. Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Ardenia Chaney; four siblings, Irene Chasteen, Luke Chaney, Pauline McQuinley, and Wilson Chaney Jr.; three nephews, Ed Chasteen, Ronnie Chasteen, and Jerry Chasteen.
Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM with Rev. Rick Witt of Faith Pentecostal of Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Lenny Weber for his caring friendship and support of Rosie, and also to her caregivers at Care Core at Meadows.
