Roy A. Thackston

Roy A. Thackston, age 78 of Hamilton passed away at his residence on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 8:16 PM. He was born in Addyston, Ohio on August 5, 1931 the son of Clayton and Florence Edna (Rinehart) Thackston. Roy was a veteran of the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1953. He was employed as a machinist for Ford Motor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1988. On March 2, 1985 in Hamilton, he married Betty L. Webb.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Thackston of Hamilton; a son, Michael A. (Mary) Thackston of Blanchester; two stepdaughters, Marla Pridemore and Lisa Hershner, both of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Jessica Thackston, Michael A. Thackston, and Lindsay Pridemore; and a sister, Bertie Lou (Jack) Rupe of Cleves. He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Thackston; and by his mother and stepfather, Florence Edna and Major Aldridge.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sonny Hurd at The Lighthouse officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
