Ruby “Evelyn” Baker, age 89, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, September 10, 2026. She was born in London, Kentucky on October 29, 1936 to Felix and Jessie (nee Cobb) Rush.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sharla (John) Bowie; her grandchildren, Brenden (Katlyn), Christian, Alex, Alesha (Zach), Cameron and Peyton; her great grandchildren, Kana, Niko, Emi and Elliott; her brothers, Gene (Carol), Vernon (Mary), Calvin (Hazel), Jerry (Linda) and Roy (Betty); her sisters, Jolene, Sue (Gene) & Jan (Dan), and many special nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Irene and Maxine, and her brother Don.

She will be remembered most for her kind and selfless heart. She spent her life caring for others, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply make someone feel loved. She had a special way of making the people around her feel important, and her warm smile was a reflection of the joy and kindness she carried within her.

Family meant everything to her. She loved deeply and unconditionally, and there was nothing more important to her than the people she loved. She was a constant source of encouragement and support, always believing in those around her and reminding them of the good she saw in them. She was loved by so many because she gave so much love herself.

Her faith was at the center of her life, and a source of great strength and comfort to her. She treasured her time studying the Bible, and her faith could be seen not only in what she believed, but in the way she lived – with kindness, compassion, generosity and love for others.

A private burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life with family and friends will be announced at a later date.
