Russell "Red" Isaacs

September 7, 1920 — May 23, 2010

Russell "Red" Isaacs, age 89, of Mt. Sterling, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday May 23, 2010, at Arbors London, Ohio. He was born in Overpeck on September 7, 1920 the son of Steve and Laura (Lakes) Isaacs. An Army veteran of WW II, he served in Europe, being wounded at The Battle of The Bulge. He was the former owner and operator of Red Isaacs Garage. Red for 34 years farmed the family farm in Madison County. He was a member of Washington Lodge #17 F&AM, Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, and Syrian Shrine. Russell was also a member of Assembly of God, Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lavilda (Garrett) Isaacs; two sons, Greg (Jane) Isaacs of Mt. Sterling and Lyle Isaacs of Fresno, California; a daughter, Wynoaka (Ron) Speer of Land O Lakes, Florida; 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel English of Connersville, Indiana and Thelma Foreman of Hamilton; a brother, James Isaacs of Yuma, Arizona; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Stanley Isaacs, Berty Isaacs, and Chester Isaacs; and sisters, Stella McVay and Pearl Napier.

Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Thursday May 27th at 2:00 PM with Pastor Wayne Ison officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM, where Washington Lodge will hold service at 7:30 PM.
