Ruth Blankenburg

Ruth Blankenburg, 87, passed away at Woodlands of Hamilton Monday, July 7, 2014. She was born in Perry County, Kentucky on January 27th, 1927, the daughter of Edward B. Wilson and Jallie (Watkins) Wilson. She attended Hamilton Public Schools and graduated from Miami University. Ruth was a teacher for the Hamilton City Schools for twenty-five years, retiring in 1990. On June 5, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence A. Blankenburg in Saint Ann’s Catholic Church. She is survived by two sons, Mark E. Blankeburg and R. Scott Blankenburg; one daughter, Barbara Ann (Blankenburg) Kiep and husband, Roger Kiep; three cherished grandchildren, Greg Louis Kiep, Meredith Ann Kiep, and Jennifer Marie Kiep, one sister, Virginia Lee Brandner; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Mary Louise Vessley; and two brothers, Ledford Wilson and Raymond Wilson. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton Street, at 10:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2014. Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday, July 10 at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton. Entombment will be held at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. In lieu of donations, we ask that you honor the beauty of Ruth’s life by always keeping love in your hearts and embracing each day. Even in times of difficulty and struggle, she held on to those who gave her strength, her family. By looking out for one another and keeping those we love nearby, Ruth’s life will be remembered in each of our heart’s every day. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Chetna Mital and the wonderful caregivers at Woodlands of Hamilton and Heartland Hospice who so lovingly tended to Ruth over the past several months.
