Age 85 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away peacefully at Atrium Medical Center on July 7, 2020.

She was Born Matilda Ruth Kelly on March 29th, 1935 in Hamilton, Ohio to Albert (Kelley) Kelly and Lena (Murnahan) Kelly. Close friends knew her as "Tilly". She grew up in New Miami, Ohio and graduated in 1954 from Seven Mile High School. On December 18, 1954 she married Robert Gerald Sams and together they had 3 children; Catherine Elaine (Jeffery) Bailey, Brenda Leah (Richard) Leachman and Robert Gerald Sams Jr.

Ruth started her career at Champion International Papers in Hamilton, Ohio before moving on the General Motors, Fisher Body Division, in Fairfield, Ohio. Ruth then married Daniel F. Buschur in July 1977.

Ruth was President of the Ladies Auxiliary and a Life Member of the VFW Chuck Cain Post 7670 as well as a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Trenton, Ohio. She was President of the ITOPS (International Telephone Operators) while working her job as Switchboard operator at Fisher Body along with her sidekick, Marjorie Dixon. Ruth was promoted to the Production floor at Fisher Body to become the first female foreman in this area, leading the way for future generations of women to follow in her footsteps.

Ruth was a very devoted mother and grandmother who placed her children above anyone or anything else. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was a very strong, outspoken, vivacious woman with a fierce zest for life. She never knew a stranger and was always willing to help others.

Ruth is survived by her first husband, Robert Sams; her 3 children, Catherine (Jeffery) Bailey, Brenda (Richard) Leachman and Robert Sams Jr. Her 2 granddaughters, Leah Leachman and Kelly Leachman and very special, close friend, Gail Evans Sorrell as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruth was the last survivor of the original Kelly family of New Miami. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Albert and Lena Kelly, Her siblings, Louise (Henry) Collins, Buck (Toby) Kelly, Bill (Lela) Kelly, Jim (Minnie) Kelly, Elizabeth (Shelby) Estep, Faith Mary (John) Lunsford, Betty (Barney) Bachman, Donald Pete (Jean) Kelly, Joann (Lou) Bryant.

Officiating: Rev. Louise Hyatt Turner

Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45013 will be in charge of visitation. Visitation will be on Tuesday July 14th from 11 to 1 PM followed by services. Burial will be at Butler Memorial Park at a time chosen by the family.
