Ryan C. Nelson

Ryan C. Nelson, age 22 of Hamilton passed away at the University Hospital on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 8:44 PM. He was born in Hamilton on May 1, 1987 the son of Lisa Nelson and Roy Phillips.

He is survived by his mother, Lisa Johnson and his step-father, Chris Johnson of Hamilton; his father Roy Phillips of Hamilton; his son, Trevor Beckwith of Hamilton; five brothers, including his little dear brother, Dylan Johnson of Hamilton, Zachary Phillips and Taylor Phillips, both of Hamilton, Michael Johnson of Baghdad, and Ronnie Johnson of Hamilton; five sisters, including his beloved sister and friend, Jessica (Jeff) McFadden of Trenton, Cindy Johnson of Hamilton, Kaley Phillips, Madison Phillips and Marissa Phillips all of Hamilton; his loving girlfriend, Tasha Beckwith of Hamilton; his grandparents, Donna Dozier of Hamilton who raised him as her own, Jan Phillips of Hamilton, Roy (Jerri) Johnson of Hamilton, and his grandfather Bob Nelson of Hamilton; four aunts, including a devoted aunt, Dawn Nelson of Hamilton, Tammy Smith and Dawana Keith, both of Hamilton, and Nerissa (Bobby) Bell of Middletown; a special uncle Curt Dozier of Hamilton; a great uncle, Bill (Bev) Leger of Indian Springs; a great aunt, Vicki Leger of Somerville; two great-grandfathers, Earl Cavin and William Leger, both of Hamilton; his best friend since childhood, Damon Rawlings of Hamilton; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Trent Nelson whom he adored; his grandfather, Carl Dozier who raised him as his own and loved him dearly; his papaw, Roy Phillips; and two great uncles, Jimmy Leger and Jim L. Dozier.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Daniel Hidlebaugh of Truth Tabernacle Apostolic. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to any First Financial Bank branch in Ryan’s name. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses at University Hospital for all their loving care and support. Ryan will be deeply and sadly missed by all his family and friends and never forgotten.
