Pastor Samir Sadik Abaskhiroune lived on this side of heaven for 85 years, 9 months and 3 days. On June 11th, while we were saying goodbye at Mercy Fairfield Hospital, Jesus was saying, “Welcome home dear friend!” For the Christian, to be away from the body is to be at home with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5: 6-8) We envisioned our dad getting a huge bearhug from Jesus followed by hugs from our mom, our family and from many others that had gone on to glory ahead of him.
He was born in Beni-Addy, Governorate of Assuit, Egypt on September 8, 1939. The son of Sadik Abaskhiroune Abouklog and Fahima Youssef Abd-el-koudous. Samir is survived by his devoted son Dr. Sameh Sadik; and loving daughters, Soheir Sadik (Bekhit), Seham Sadik (Abraham), and Sally Sadik (Aiuob), of West Chester Ohio; and adoring sister, Samira Sadik of Mina, Egypt. He also leaves behind dedicated grandchildren Basant Hanna (Isaac), Bevian Hanna (Remon), Olivia Girgis (Samuel), Andrew Girgis (Myriam), Selvia Hanna (Michael), Andy Gendy, and Amy Gendy. And loving great grandchildren; Adam Samir, Jonathan Refaat, Alice Samir, Eli Samuel, Emmanuel Katrey, and Noah Girgis. He also leaves behind a great number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Hanna, and his brothers Aziz (Ameer) Sadik and Beshy (Monir) Sadik. He was also preceded in death by his loving daughter in law Connie (Jarvis) Sadik.
At the age of thirteen, he was taken to church and heard the gospel message and accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. When he was 16 years old, he felt God’s call to him to full time ministry. At age 19 he started his full-time ministry as a pastor and served in that capacity for over 66 years. During the length of his ministry, Dr. Samir served as a pastor in tiny villages, small towns, and large cities. He served as pastor to diverse groups of people, highly educated and garbage collectors, rich and poor, young and old. He also served as the Dean of the Middle East Theological Seminary. For over 45 years he trained and raised hundreds of pastors and leaders that currently hold strategic leadership roles in that part of the world.
Samir was an ordained minister with the Egyptian Assemblies of God. He lived a life marked by faithfulness and selflessness in service of the Lord and others. He never cared about a title or a position, rather advancing the Kingdom of God. After earning his Masters Degree in the USA, he returned to Egypt to partner with the ministry of Operation Serve helping the garbage collectors in Cairo.
