Samuel Cassano

Samuel "Peck" Cassano, age 77 of Hamilton passed away at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 11:05 PM. He was born in Hamilton on September 21, 1934 the son of Dominick and Teresa (Torello) Cassano. Sam was employed as a custodian for Hamilton City Schools for 34 years, retiring in 1999. On December 27, 1958 in Hamilton he married Betty J. Gordon who preceded him in death in 2003.

He is survived by six children, Cindy Shearer, Melinda (Benny) Hobson, Barbara Cassano, Sam (Tonya) Cassano Jr., William (Donna) Cassano, and Donald (Jessie) Cassano, all of Hamilton; three brothers, Mike Cassano, Jack (Marilyn) Cassano, and Ralph Cassano, all of Hamilton; one sister, Ann (Joe) Bavaro of Dayton; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Virgil Shearer.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
