Samuel Ray Thomas aged 81 of Oxford passed away Oct. 8, 2024, at his home. He battled many health issues over the years, and won them all, except the last. Samuel was born March 30, 1943, to Grace Aileen Thomas and Albert I. Welch. He enjoyed drag racing and building his own race cars. He competed for over 60 years and was even mentioned in Hot Rod magazine. He was respected and loved by many in the racing community. Sam worked in the printing industry for over 35 years, Newspapers as well as business forms, but his favorite thing was spending time with family and friends.
Sam is survived by 3 children, Rebecca Price (Roy) of Morehead, Ky; Ella Barnes of Olive Hill, Ky; and Randall Thomas (Dawn) of Fairfield Ohio; also his companion of 20 years Betty J. Muench Of Oxford, Ohio; and her son Terrance Huff of Hamilton, Ohio, who he loved dearly; 10 grandchildren, Russell, Troy, Casey, Dalton, Raychel, Brandon, Elizabeth, Anthony, Chloe, and Luke; 10 great grandchildren, with one on the way; and 4 great great granddaughters; 1 brother William Welch of Delaware, Ohio; 1 sister Sharon Walker of Leitchfield, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 43 years, Betty Thomas (Wallace) in 2003, along with twin grandsons. Sam will be missed greatly by his Family, and always remembered fondly by everyone.
Memorial service will be held at Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Ave, Hamilton, Ohio Saturday October 19th, 2024, at 12;00Noon.
