Sandra J. Metzler (Fowler) joined her beloved husband David Metzler, Sr., in Heaven on December 7, 2021. She was born on Sept. 7, 1939, in Hamilton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Maymie Fowler, and her husband David. She is survived by her children, Maribeth (Shari Thornton) and David (April), her grandchildren Joseph (Maggie) and Gabrielle, her brother Terrell Fowler, nephews Bobby Fowler and Keith Fowler, brother-in-law Paul Metzler (Judy), nephews Karl (Carla) and Kurt (Iris), and niece Stephany (Charles Husemann).
She met her husband Dave in Latin class at Hamilton High when they were 15. They were together until he passed in 2008. Sandy studied elementary education at Miami University and was a substitute teacher in the Hamilton City schools while her children grew up. In the early 1980s she got her realtor’s license and began working at Dick Bryant Realty. She later joined West Shell where she remained until she retired in the late 1990s. She and Dave invested in real estate, and in 1987 purchased Tiny Times Day Care. Sandy had long dreamed of having her own school and loved working with the children and staff there.
Sandy enjoyed cruise vacations with her family. She had been all over the Caribbean, to New England and to Alaska. She loved to read and spent many happy hours reading in bookstores. She was a life-long Cincinnati Reds fan and had been to everything from Opening Day to World Series games.
She took great joy in her grandchildren. At first, she watched Joseph and Gabrielle several times a week, then went to their various 4H and school events, then she proudly watched each one graduate from college. This past July, she was thrilled to see Joseph marry Maggie.
She was a member of the Eaton Road (previously Ross Ave) Church of God for most of her life. She loved her church family and participated in the Prayer Shawl ministry there until the end of her life.
