Shari Hazelwood

Shari L. Hazelwood, age 63 of Somerville, Ohio passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. Shari was born in Hamilton, Ohio on November 21, 1961 to Charles Sandlin and Opal (Ledford) Sandlin. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1979 and attended Southern Ohio College where she obtained her business degree. Shari “SweetHostage” and Brian “TaterChipper” met via CB Radio at the Woodsdale mall in 1978, the day before her 16th birthday. Together they married in 1982 in Williamsdale, Ohio. She began her career in banking and later transitioned to secretary for the family business, as well as being a homemaker. Shari was a foodie who enjoyed motorcycle rides, camping, genealogy, history, and shopping.

Shari is survived by her husband of 43 years, Brian Hazelwood; children, Jonathan (Brandi) Hazelwood, Laura Hazelwood and Hannah Hazelwood; grandson, Grayson Hazelwood; siblings, Jo Ann (Richard) Fry, Carol Williams and Larry (Diane) Sandlin; nephews, Fred (Jeana) and Benji (Tonya) Diesbach, Boyd (Tracey) Williams, Larry (Marla) and Scotty (Barb) Sandlin; niece, Jeannine Williams; among many other relatives and friends. Shari was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Opal Sandlin; in-laws, John and Emma Joh Hazelwood; granddaughter, Ashley Lynn Todd; and brother-in-law, Boyd Williams.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, Ohio, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christian Appalachian Project.
