Sophia Donathan

Sophia Donathan, age 85 of Wapakoneta, Ohio formerly of Hamilton passed away in Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta, Ohio on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 9:30AM. She was born in Hamilton on July 7, 1922, the daughter of James and Margaret (Murphy) Brockman. Sophia was a member of the Washington Chapter #l95 O.E.S. of Hamilton, Eagles Lodge #691, VFW Post #8445 Auxiliary and Senior Citizens, all of Wapakoneta, Ohio. She was employed as an inspector for Leather Specialty Company for thirty years retiring in 1986. In 1953 in Richmond, Indiana, she was married to Don Donathan and he preceded her in death in 1976.

She is survived by two daughters; Virginia "Tooter" (Bill) Koch of Wapakoneta, Ohio and Kathryn Furlow of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Denise, Sam, Doug,Tammy,Jenny, Debbie and Reece and also eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Lawrence, Willis and Jim Brockman and three sisters, Mary Harkleroad, Edna Elmore and Kathryn Bray and one grandson, Donald Furlow.

Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 11AM with Rev. David Hocker of Community Pentecostal Church of Independence, Kentucky officiating. Burial will be in Butler Co. Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4PM to 8PM. The Washington Chapter #l95 O.E.S. will hold services at 7PM, Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Diabetes Assn. or the charity of donor’s choice.
