Stephen Fields, Sr., age 89 of Oxford passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 5:15 PM. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on November 21, 1918 the son of Chester and Millie (McQueen) Fields. Stephen was a veteran of World War II with the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He was employed in the store room at Champion Paper for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Stephen attended the Auburn Bible Methodist Church and was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge. On June 24, 1943 in Covington, Kentucky he married Charlotte Spaulding.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Fields of Oxford; four sons, Ronald (Violet) Fields of Oxford, Chester (Ina) Fields of Fairfield, Stephen (Rebecca) Fields, Jr. of Hamilton, and Mark (Wanda) Fields of Middletown; twelve grandchildren; and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dexter Fields; two brothers, Otis and Forrest Fields; and six sisters, Maude Norman, Leona Reed, Nannie Baker, Gertrude Moore, Rose Adams and Faye Sterwerf.
Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Steve Gresham of Auburn Bible Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
