Steve "Smitty" Smith Sr.

Howard S. Smith Sr., age 68 of Hamilton, passed away at Heritage Springs Nursing Home on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Known to most as Steve or ‘Smitty’, he was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 11, 1956 to the late Howard and Judy (Morris) Smith. Steve was a dispatcher and driver for AC Trucking for over 35 years. He enjoyed football, from the Bengals to Hamilton High, as well as fishing and working out at the Central YMCA in Hamilton. Above all, Steve loved his family and friends with all of his heart.

Steve is survived by his children, Shelly (Bob) Hurlander, Howard S. (Staci) Smith Jr., Nicholas L. (Tara) Smith; his mom, Barbara Smith; his grandchildren, Jeremy Hurlander, Lilli Smith, Laythan Smith, Stevie Smith, Serenity, and Landen; four great grandchildren, Noah, Abbie, Adaline, and LJ Hurlander; his siblings, Lisa Ann (Myrel) Frazier, Dennis Dean Smith, Jennifer Welch, Nelson (Cynthia) Sergent, Lori (Shawn) Garver, Lynn (Bill) McCreight, Lisa (Dwayne) Miller; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pamela D. "Pam" Smith; his grandson, Jacob Hurlander; his brothers, Joe and John Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home – Historic Downtown Chapel, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, OH 45011. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
