Sudie Fay Sparks, age 63, of Liberty Twp. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 10:15 A.M. after losing her courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the residence she shared with her daughter Roxanna Ferris. She was born in Perry County, Kentucky on February 13, 1944 the daughter of Arkus and Beulah (Hibbard) Pennington.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, especially getting together with her family and friends to play and sing Bluegrass and Gospel music. Her other interests included listing to music from the 50’s, the Blues and dancing to Rod Stewart’s "Hot Legs." She also enjoyed quilting, gardening and playing with her dogs Buddy, Dolly and Tanner.
She is survived by a son, Greg (Ellen) Sparks of Hamilton; a daughter, Roxanna (Scott) Ferris of Liberty Twp.; two grandchildren, Brian Joseph (fiancée Crystal Edwards) Kitchen and J. T. Harmon; two brothers, Frank D. (Janice) Pennington of Miamisburg and Arkus Ben (Ann) Pennington of Annville, Kentucky; six sisters, Dorothy (Roy) Southard and Iva (Larry) Shephard both of McKee, Kentucky, Beatrice (Tommy) Judd and Roxie (Udell) Breeding both of Miamisburg, Vanda Gabbard of Gray Hawk, Kentucky, and Betty Sparks of McKee, Kentucky. Sudie is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and a host of special friends all of which held a very special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her spouse of 25 years, Joseph Sparks.
The family wishes to thank the staff at University of Cincinnati Hospital who was successful in diagnosing Sudie’s year-long illness. Special thanks go out to Dr. Hamadinia and the Urology Staff (especially Alex) for their utmost care and professionalism during her hospital stays and treatments; especially the compassion given to Roxanna and Greg during the trying times they endured. Lastly, we would like to thank Personal Touch Nursing and Hospice of Cincinnati for their part in caring for mom during her illness.
Funeral services will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., on Wednesday, April 4th at 12 noon with Pastor James Maggard of Full Gospel Outreach officiating. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3rd from 5 to 8 P.M.
