West Chester

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Sue Nell (Dalton) Niles, on November 30, 2025, in the comfort of her home at the age of 90. A dedicated daughter and sister, aunt, wife, mother, and her favorite title of Mamaw.

Born on January 22, 1935, in Albany, KY to the late James M. and Alva (Elizabeth) Dalton, Sue spent her life with an adventurous spirit. Her love of reading was a lifelong passion and could always be found with a book in her hands.

Sue who was the unofficial "neighborhood mom," her legacy is one of endless love, kindness, and well-read wisdom. She was the heart of her neighborhood and taught us that a simple act of kindness, like a freshly baked cookie, cup of coffee or a thoughtful word, could solve almost any problem.

For over thirty years Sue worked for the Butler County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a bus aide. Her nurturing and caring for the children on her route and connections with their parents are admirable. More than anything, Sue was a treasured friend. Her warm and caring personality touched countless lives, and her generous spirit knew no bounds.

She is survived by her children: Karen (Niles) Petty, Linda (Charles) Henry, Lori (Chad Leisey) Clark, Maryann (Darrin) Ailes, brother Ralph (Roxie) Dalton, sister Ida Reynolds, sister in law Becky Niles of New Castle, Indiana, along with grandchildren Sarah Wagers, Billy Sandlin, Bart (Rachel Henry, Kieran Stark, Kelsey Niles, Brix and Aaden Ailes, special friends of the family Debbie Spencer, Deanna Childress, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Niles, Jr., her son Charles Michael Niles; brothers, Jesse Dalton, David Dalton, Donald K. Dalton, and Keith Dalton; and sister, Deborah Dalton.

A private service with family will be held later. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities, The Lane Public Library and Animal Friends Humane Society, all causes close to her heart. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly extraordinary woman.
