Sylvia Gwendolyn (Mault) Thieken, age 90 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice in Hamilton on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born in Sparrows Point, MD on January 1, 1926 to Norman and Pearle (Mershon) Mault. On August 26, 1950 she married Charles Thieken in Porstmouth, OH and moved to Hamilton in 1952. Sylvia was a member of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church and K of C Ladies Auxillary. She was an avid bowler, card game enthusiast, and loved tending to her flowers.
She is survived by husband, Charles Thieken; her five children, Pam (Rick) Kuhl, Kenneth Thieken, Richard (Deidra) Thieken, Donald (Linda) Thieken and Judith (Don) Baker; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and three siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her daughter Rita Thieken.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church, 224 Dayton St., on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10AM with Fr. Michael Pucke celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 9-9:45AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
