Teasel Melba Hacker, age 82 of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, March 3, 2023. Teasel was born in Flint, Michigan on March 10, 1940 to William and Adeline (nee Engbloom) Hannafius.Teasel grew up in Boulder, Colorado where she met and married her first husband, Charles Barber. In Boulder, she was a beautician and homemaker. In 1972, they moved their family to Muskogee, Oklahoma where she continued to be a beautician and eventually became a waitress. Teasel’s passion to work with people was evident based onthe jobs she chose to work over the years. Teasel was fortunate to have the opportunity to fall in love for the second time. She married the love of her life, Leeroy Hacker, and they made their home on top of Brushy Mountain in Muskogee, OK for 40 years. Upon the passing of Leeroy, she moved to Hamilton with her daughter, Kathleen. Teasel’s favorite holiday was Christmas; she would spend hours each year decorating her home for the holiday and looked forward to the many celebrations and visits from family. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, gardening and being around her grandchildren.
Teasel is survived by her children, Kendal (Kathy) Barber, Kent (Donna) Barber, Kathleen (Judy) Mills and Kurt(Michelle) Barber; her step-children, LaGlenda Humphrey and Terry Hacker; her fourteen grandchildren; her sixteengreat-grandchildren; her two great great-grandchildren with one on the way; her sister, Beverly Lynchard; her half sisters, Sharon and Linda; and her nieces and nephews. Teasel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leeroy Hacker; her former husband, Charles Barber; and her great grandchild, Dillion Craig.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held in Muskogeeat a later date.
