Thomas L. Cavin, age 92 of Sevierville, Tennessee formerly of Hamilton passed away at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 8:58 PM. He was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee on October 15, 1917, the son of Willie and Phoebe (Mowel) Cavin. Thomas was employed as a tool maker for Fisher Body, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Sims Road Chapel, Washington Lodge #17 F&AM, and the Syrian Temple. On August 3, 1972 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado he was married to Doris Freeman.
He is survived by his wife Doris Cavin of Sevierville, Tennessee; four children, Charlotte Hayes of West Chester, Sandy (Jack) Couch of West Chester, Donna (Larry) Persch of Hamilton, and Charles (Debbie) Cavin of Trenton; three step-children, Sandra (Glen) Estridge of Hamilton, Lois (John) Kendall of Sparta, New Jersey, and Jackie (Dick) Henry of Carlisle; one brother, James Ray (Lucille) Cavin of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; former spouse and mother of his children, Lucille Cavin; a son, Thomas Cavin; a daughter, Jackie Cavin; four brothers, Vean, Mearl, Earl, and Louis Cavin; and five sisters, Opal Ensor, Minnie Short, Ruby Linkous, Roxie Alvis, and Dovie Powell.
Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM. Masonic services will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.
