Thomas A. Johnson, age 96 of Camden passed away at his residence on Thursday March 6, 2026. He was born in Hamilton on February 6, 1930, the son of Hugh and Nora Johnson. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army that served in the Korean war. He got saved and filled with the Holy Spirit when he was a young adult at the beloved Pater Avenue Church in Hamilton. He loved The Lord and always expected God's favor and miracles. Throughout his life he had many different jobs from Champion in Hamilton, West Elkton school janitor, Preble Shawnee bus driver, Avon, a moving business where he moved many to Florida, to his favorite career and what he may be best known for, an Auctioneer. He was well known by the community of Camden for many years through the early 80's for his regular auction he hosted at his property. He then moved his auction to Florida, where he stayed until far after retirement, as long as he could in the sunshine state before returning to Ohio to be close with his family for the last 4 years of his life.
He is survived by his 2 sons Tom of Hamilton and Matt of Camden; four grandchildren Carrie Jo, Ryan, Sackett and Morgan; 10 grandchildren Hunner, Gavin, Urban, Rayann, Elisha, Christian, Clare, Deacon, Silas and Sawyer; one sister-in-law Frances Johnson Crowe; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Johnson, his daughter Martha Johnson Barger, his parents Hugh and Nora, and all his siblings Park and Nora Johnson, Walter Johnson, George and Jeanne Johnson, Edna Johnson Thorpe and Ernie, Clifford and Marie Johnson, Hugh Jr, Ruth Johnson Tatem and Bob, Donald Johnson and Lucille, Clara Belle Johnson Kincaid and Troy.
A memorial service will be held at First Church of God Northside, 6820 N. Main St. Camden, OH, on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 5-7pm.
