Thomas "Tommy" G. Lawson

Thomas "Tommy" G. Lawson, age 65, of Hamilton, passed away September 25, 2012, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Tommy was born on July 30, 1947 to Otis and Elizabeth Lawson. Tommy graduated from Lakota High School in 1965 and immediately enlisted to serve in the US Air Force (’65-’69). Upon his return Tommy married his dearly beloved, Saundra Hacker, in August 1969. Tommy and Saundra enjoyed 43 years of marriage and the two of them together exemplified a perfectly matched pair. A great joy in Tommy’s life was having a baby boy with Saundra, Jeff Lawson. As Jeff grew up it was clear that he was Dad’s best friend. Tommy served as Jeff’s Best Man when he married Donna Price in 1996. Jeff and Donna later gave Tommy the greatest gift of all-a granddaughter. Taylor "Baby Doll" Lawson was the little light of Tommy’s life. Tommy was a retiree from AK Steel. His retirement made time for another love in his life, golf. Tommy worked at Walden Ponds Golf Course during his retirement. He enjoyed many sports, but golf was a true passion for him. Tommy was a very special person, he had a hearty laugh that was nothing less than contagious. If Tommy laughed, everyone laughed. Tommy has a treasured spot in every friend and family members heart, and will be sadly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.

Tommy is survived by his beloved wife Saundra, son Jeff and wife Donna, Granddaughter Taylor "Baby Doll" Lawson, pets Riley and Winston. His siblings, Penny House, BJ Lawson and his wife Peggy, Tim Lawson and wife Mary, and brother and sister in law John and Henrietta Sparks. Nieces and Nephews Jennifer and Jason House, Stacey Sparks-Huff, and Jocelyn Cates, David and Molly Lawson, Dylan Lawson. Preceded in death by his parents Otis and Elizabeth Lawson, Mother in Law Sally Bundy. Memorial Service to be held at the Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home 1350 Millville Avenue, October 4, 2012, at 11 AM, with Rev. Jake Jacobs officiating.
