Thomas E. Rains

Thomas E. Rains, age 62 of Oxford passed away at his residence on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 9:21 PM. He was born in Hamilton on January 31, 1950 the son of Elden A. and Elizabeth (Mauthner) Rains. Thomas was a 1968 graduate of Stephen T. Badin High School and a 1972 graduate of Ohio University. He was employed as a teacher at Stephen T. Badin High School, where he also coached baseball, and was a member of St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church. Thomas enjoyed sports and woodworking. On July 31, 1971 in Blackwood, New Jersey he married the love of his life, Karen Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Rains of Oxford; two children, Suzanne (Scott) Roth of Milford Township and Joseph Rains of Hamilton; two brothers, Ben (Helen) Rains and Dave (Sheila) Rains, both of Hamilton; two sisters, Donna (Ron) Honerlaw of Fairfield Township and Mary (Mike) Ivancic of Seattle, Washington; two granddaughters, Heather and Emily Roth; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Ronald C. Haft, Celebrant. Visitation will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to the Badin High School Scholarship Fund, 571 New London Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
