Thomas O. Smith

Thomas O. Smith, age 83 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 9:30PM. He was born in Gratis, OH on April 13, 1932 to Earl and Anna (Parker) Smith. Tom was a United States Army Veteran, serving from 1952-1954 in Korea. He was employed at ARMCO Steel for 38 years retiring in 1985. Tom was employed by EG&G for 13 years and retired from there as well. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and also a member of the Mini Circus Sawdusters Club. On May 5, 1956 in Richmond, IN he married Thelma Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Thelma Smith, of Hamilton; two children, Julie (David) Crawford, of Hamilton, Jeffery (Diane) Smith, Raliegh NC; four grandchildren, Sarah and Thomas Crawford and Jon and William Smith; and one great granddaughter, Eva Ann Carpenter; one sister, JoAnn (Thomas) Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; his brothers, Lawrence, Joseph, Stanley, Earl Jr. and sisters Anna Juanita, Ethel, Frieda, Fern, and Dorothy.

Funeral service will be held at Brown Dawson Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11AM with Pastor Robert Shannon officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Gratis, OH. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 5PM-8PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
