Tom Metcalf

Tom Metcalf, age 82 of West Harrison, Indiana passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 16, 2010. He was born in Clay County, Kentucky on February 29, 1928 the son of Henry and Ida (Hunter) Metcalf. Tom was employed as a laborer at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1986. He was an avid fisherman and member of Cherry Valley United Baptist Church. On July 3, 1952 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana he married Betty Jo Lawwill.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Metcalf of West Harrison; four sons, Tommy L. (Tammy D.) Metcalf of Harrison, Danny (Cathy) Metcalf, Bobby (Lula M.) Metcalf, and Jimmy (Kimberly A.) Metcalf, all of West Harrison; a brother, Donald (Doris) Metcalf of Manchester, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis Metcalf; two brothers, Robert and Mendel Metcalf; and a sister, Ethyl Rowlett.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Wednesday, Oct. 20th at 10:00 AM with Rev. Marvin Laudermilk and Rev. Roger Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Metcalf family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. McCullough and staff, the nurses of Hospice of Dearborn Co. Hospital, and Bright Lyons Club.
