Tony Ashton, age 74 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with his loving family at his side. Tony was born in Middletown, Ohio on January 31, 1951, to the late Ray and Betty Jane (Rizzo) Ashton. Tony worked at AK Steel for over 37 years. After his time at the steel mill, Tony worked for Kone Cranes and AMNS Calvert Steel Mill, but never really retired – there was always a project to be done and Tony had the wisdom, tools, and work ethic to finish it, even if took a while or wasn’t ‘done to code.’ When he wasn’t fixing something, Tony enjoyed camping, fishing, spending time outdoors and grilling out. He was known as the “Grill Master” with the hose always on stand-by and nobody will ever be able to make his almost famous microwave sausage gravy. His creativity wasn’t limited to the kitchen and he left us with creative spellings that we will always remember and forever cherish. He also coached baseball and football. In his final days with us, he was carefully and attentively cared for by his son, Caleb and his wife, Michelle, which he affectionately called Nurse Cratchet and his Sweathart. Above all, Tony loved God and his family, especially the grandkids.
Tony will be dearly missed by his loving wife and “Sweathart” [not a typo], Michelle Ashton; his children, Josh (Kimberly) Ashton, Julie Boone, Angie, Bryan Ward, Trisha (Richie) McKenzie, Jordan (Abigail) Ashton, Haley (Brad) Jones, and Caleb Ashton; his grandchildren, Josh (Mindy) Mullins Jr., Tyler Harrell, Conner (Maxine) Ashton, Cassie (Jon) Wells, Caitlyn (Dylan) Sage, Kirsten Boone, Ashton (Jimmy) Tolle, Karter McQuiston, Kaedin Ward, Savannah Ward, Logan McKenzie, Lillian McKenzie, Levi McKenzie, Lynleigh McKenzie, Eli Ashton, Emilia Ashton, Ethan Ashton, Brody Blosser, Sylvie Ashton (On the way), Elbie Jones, Graham Jones, and Camille Jones; his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Hannah, Brianna, Chaille, Elaina, Henley, Kyree, Evangeline (On the way), Madeline, Christopher, Anthony, Finnley, and Ashlyn; his sister, Sandy Miller; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Tony is reunited in Heaven with his parents, an infant son and his brother, Ray Ashton.
Tony’s family will host a celebration of his life at a later date.
