Velma J. Cole

Velma J. Cole, age 75 of Florence, Kentucky, passed away at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Edgewood, Kentucky on Friday, March 18, 2011 at 3:52 PM. She was born in Berea, Kentucky on September 27, 1935 the daughter of Marion and Ollie B. (Alexander) Cain. Velma was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church in Franklin, Ohio. On December 18, 1953 in Hamilton she married Raleigh Cole and he preceded her in death in 1992.

She is survived by six children, Rick (Dawn) Cole of Columbus, Ohio, Christina (Joe) Lawniczak of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Kathy Fisher of Florence, Kentucky, Robert (Debbie) Cole of Franklin, Ohio, Belinda (Scott) Musen of Bethlehem, Georgia, and Earl G. Cole of Booneville, Kentucky; three sisters, Dana (Sam) Parker, Vivian (Jerry) Hymer, and Judy Ellis; devoted companion, Bernie Smith of Wilder, Kentucky; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, John W. Cole.

Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ethan Daves of Franklin Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
