Verona E. Vereker

Verona E. Dudley Vereker, age 98 of Oxford passed away at her residence on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:43 PM. She was born in Union County, Indiana on June 30, 1913. Verona was employed as a nurse’s aide for Dr. Princell in Oxford. In June, 1934 in Oxford she married Clarence Vereker, and he preceded her in death in 1958.

She is survived by daughter-in-law Evelyn Vereker; seven grandchildren, Dick (Joyce) Rigling of Orlando, Florida, Steve (Mary) Rigling of Ross, Jim (Connie) Rigling of Connersville, Indiana, Deborah (Cliffton) Powell of Reily Township, K. Sue (Greg) Smith of Cleves, Bob (Darlene) Vereker of South Carolina, and Peggy (David) Fugate of Oxford; twelve great-grandchildren; twenty-two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary Jane Bourne. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Victor Dudley; and a sister, Valeda Dudley; son Francis Vereker and daughter Louise Rigling.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 111 East High Street, Oxford, on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 10:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon with Fr. Jeff Silver, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to Vitas Hospice.
