Vincent Ambrose Davin, M.D.

Vincent Ambrose Davin, M.D., age 69 of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away on August 3, 2007. He was born on July 2, 1938 at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton and grew up in Lindenwald, the son of Dr. William A. and Anna Marie (Buckley) Davin. He attended St. Ann’s School and Hamilton Catholic High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame (1960) and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1964). In 1962, he married Joyce Holbrock with whom he had 45 happy years of marriage. After graduating from medical school, he did his training at Bethesda Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio and became an obstetrician/gynecologist. He served as a physician in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, stationed at Fort Dix, NJ and West Point, NY. After returning to Hamilton in 1970, he practiced over 35 years as a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, including rewarding years with Drs. Clemmons, Salter and Rowley. He enjoyed all the time that he spent taking care of mothers-to-be and delivering thousands of children and felt particularly close to God while delivering new babies. He loved spending time with all of his family and is survived by his wife Joyce, four children, Elizabeth (Albert Pece) Davin, William (Maureen) Davin, Margaret Davin, and Bridget (Michael) Fesenmeier, eight grandchildren, three brothers Dr. William (Anne) Davin, Walter (Mary Ann) Davin and Dr. Harry (Margie) Davin, and one sister, Mary Lu Nickels, and many other loving family members and friends. He loved traveling with his family, whether it was to Notre Dame for a football game, to Hilton Head or to Europe, and he was always the "fearless leader." He was a member of the Butler County Medical Association and the OB/GYN Society of Cincinnati. He was also a member of the American Radio Relay League and enjoyed connecting with people across the country through amateur radio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, Hamilton, OH 45013 on Monday, August 6 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will be held beginning at 9 a.m. at the church before the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation in honor of the Vincent and Joyce Davin Scholarship Fund, 319 North 3rd Street, Hamilton, OH 45011 or to Vitas Innovation Hospice Care, 11500 Northlake Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45249. Our family would like to thank Berkeley Retirement Community, Life Balance Group and Vitas for the support and care they provided to Dr. Davin.
