Violet J. Huntington, age 80, of Hamilton passed away at Ft. Hamilton Hospital on Thursday, January 5, 2012. She was born in Batavia, Ohio on November 9, 1931 the daughter of Charles and Ester (White) Horn. She was a 1949 graduate of Hanover Township High School. Violet went back to college at the age of 31 to get her teaching degree from Miami University. Violet was employed as a Learning Disability Teacher at Fairfield South Elementary, before retiring after 21 years of service. On August 11, 1950 in Hamilton she married Earle "Gene" Huntington, and he preceded her in death in 2003. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing scrabble, and reading her Bible.
She is survived by three sons, Rick Huntington, Randy Huntington and his fiancé Vanessa, both of Hamilton, and Ron Huntington, of College Corner, Ohio; a brother, Don Horn of Hamilton; two granddaughters, Corinne Carlin and Lynsey Huntington; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Sue Horn.
Funeral service will be held at the Brown-Dawson-Flick Funeral Home, 1350 Millville Avenue, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM with Pastor Doug Combs of Church on Fire officiating. Burial will follow in Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
